FAQ: Digital Design Center

Who can use DDC consulting services? Who gets first priority?

  • Anyone affiliated with the Hampshire campus can drop on in for some consulting time. If you have scheduled an appointment, you get first priority.

  • Does DDC give out monetary grants for student projects like the Lemelson Program?

  • No (though this may change if our funding levels increase).

  • What is the relationship between DDC and the Lemelson Program?

  • DDC, like the Lemelson Assistive Technology Development Center, the Center for Sustainability, and the new Multi-College and University Entrepreneur's Institute, are outgrowths of the original Lemelson Program. Some of the initial startup funding for DDC came from the Lemelson Program. Most importantly, the Lemelson Program works closely with the DDC to help student projects in the areas of business development, intellectual property and other legal issues. The Lemelson Program also offers seminars dealing with innovation and entrepreneurial endeavors.

  • What is the Electronic Classroom (E-Classroom) and how is it related to DDC?

  • See the Electronic Classroom FAQ

  • What happed to the old ASH Lab?

  • The old ASH Lab is gone. If you need to use the DDC facilities you should stop by and talk us. By getting your project approved as an official DDC project you can be put on our key list.

  • Can I use the equipment in the DDC?

  • You can always schedule an appointment to use our equipment. And if you have an official DDC project you can come in after hours by being on our key list.

  • What equipment is available?

  • We have only begun to create the facilities. We are still waiting to hear from more students about what their needs are before purchasing equipment.

  • Is there really a color laser printer in the DDC?

    • Yes and no. There is a personally owned color laser printer in the DDC.
If you would like to use it you must talk with Goose (the owner) about availability and donations.
